About Erik
If you are searching for someone to help you get started on the electric bass, to help with transcription and analysis, or even if you're an intermediate/advanced player looking to learn new and extended techniques, then I'm your guy!
I have recently decided to start teaching as I have always had a knack for breaking down songs and assisting friends and other musicians with learning. Being self taught was great, but years later I can identifty pitfalls and shortcuts in the learning process.
I have decades of formal musical training, a BFA in Music and Audio Tech from CCNY, and over 12 years of live performance, from improvised jams at the local venue to touring around the world with my band Pyrrhon.

As a musician who started out teaching myself, I first try to get the goals and interests of the students and work from there. Although I've studied music in classrooms my whole life, I still believe I benefitted most from playing on my own and learning from music and videos. The information that sticks is the stuff that is practiced most, and what is practiced most is what interests the student in the end.

I use a sliding scale depending on the student and length of lessons, and a small charge for traveling if the student prefers to study in their own home/studio.
