About Nathan
I am very passionate about sound and music. I would love to help you with whatever you may need -- anything from completely beginning on an instrument, to helping you write and record your songs, to putting the finishing touches on your music, to theory, to music history, etc...
I have been playing the electric bass since 1992, and have been writing music since 1994. I studied jazz and acoustic bass at Manhattan School of Music, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor's of Music degree. I have been very fortunate to have played with jazz masters ranging from Bobby Watson, Stephen Scott and Winard Harper to contemporaries such as Logan Richardson and John Hadfield. Another performing hi-light was playing double-bass in the U.S. premier of Michael Gordon and Bill Morrison's 'Decasia.' I have since played in other classical music settings as well as everything from rock to singer/songwriter and world music.

I most enjoy sharing what I've learned about the gift of music. This presents itself in as many different forms as their are people. For some, it could be teaching them theory. For others it could be teaching them how to craft their song. Still for others, it could be teaching them how to listen on a deeper level. I love doing anything for people that allows them to like their music more.

My process begins by asking a potential new student what they are wanting to achieve with lessons. Using this information I determine if I can help them achieve this goal. If I believe I can, we'll begin the process of lessons and I'll start outlining goals for them. Along the way of attaining these goals, I continue to check in with them to make sure we're both still on the same page.
