About Emma
I am a current student at BYU studying music education. Bassoon is my primary instrument and I have been playing/taking lessons from professional bassoonists for 12 years. I have won competitions throughout my time as a bassoonist as well as been accepted to participate in several honors ensembles at a state and nation-wide level. I am willing to work with you to find a great meeting place, time, and format (online or in-person) to provide the best lessons for you at your current ability. I am also able to help you begin or continue your learning in the reed-making process. The bassoon is such a fun instrument to learn! Let's keep learning it together!

To teach a new student, I first like to meet with them and get to know them. It is important to know who they are as a person and what their goals are as far as playing the bassoon goes. I usually take the first lesson to ask general get-to-know you questions and questions about previous experience, current repertoire, and current playing ability. I then like to have the student play basic scales for me to gauge their current ability and set both long term and short term goals with them. The lessons are about the students, not about me!
