About Micah
I've been trained as a cellist since I was thirteen years old, being involved in other instruments such as piano and clarinet even before that. During that time, I've studied with various professionals creating a musical lineage leading back to Rostropovich, Starker, and Piatigorsky themselves. I've earned my B.A. in music performance on the cello, and am currently working towards my M.M. in the same field.

New students are going to be met with a fairly standard first couple of lessons. Our first lesson will mostly be getting to know each other. It's a chance for me to understand what you want, why you're taking lessons, if there's a specific goal, etc. This really helps me to better understand how I can help you best. Our second and third lessons will be somewhat more experimental: seeing what methods of teaching resonate with you, figuring out where you're at musically, what your technique looks like, what areas need the most immediate attention. From there, we will enter a more stable week by week schedule. At the end of each lesson we will set specific and achievable goals for the next lesson.
