About Charlotte
*LOCATED OUTSIDE CHICAGO* please reach out if you are located in the CHICAGO area for in-person lessons! If you are not near CHICAGO, I'd be happy to do online lessons!
I have a masters in Cello performance and have taught private cello lessons for ten years. I teach all ages and skill levels. I always have conversations with my students about their goals and needs and tailor my lessons to meet them. I value creativity when teaching because the experience should be personal to the student. I think it's important to start incorporating music the student enjoys as early and often as possible because I want them to enjoy playing. I value balancing fun and enriching pieces of music with a lot of scales and exercises to continue building technique.
I was in my last year of undergrad and started advertising my cello teaching online.

I like to set up a time to meet for a one-time lesson so that we can get to know each other and see if it's a good fit!
If they've played before, I'd start by having them play any piece that they like, we'll workshop it a bit, then we can add in any exercises, etudes, and pieces that compliment their level and goals!
For a beginner, we'd spend some time talking about setup and holding the instrument, then start learning one note at a time.
Complete beginners in their elementary school orchestra, middle schoolers with a million different extracurriculars, high school students auditioning for colleges, retirees, adults wanting a creative outlet, adults returning to the instrument after having played as a child, all ages and levels.

A 30-minute lesson is $40.
A 45-minute lesson is $50.
A 60-minute lesson is $60.
I recommend a 30-minute lesson for beginners of any age or children under 12. 45 minutes is recommended for anyone over 12 who has been playing 1-2 years or more. 60 minutes would be best for advanced players, and anyone serious about becoming more advanced!
