About Victoria
Whether you are seeking to improve your playing or are ready to take the plunge and learn how to play the cello, I can provide you with a high quality and individualized musical experience.
My mission is to provide private lessons at a reasonable rate and, through cello instruction, share the power of music with others. It is my belief that you are never too old to begin studying music and my goal as a private teacher is to provide the knowledge and resources to do so.
As a child, I was always fascinated with music. I studied piano for several years as a child and could always be found humming and singing throughout the day. In middle school, I fell in love with the cello after listening to Bach's Suite no. 3 for unaccompanied cello and decided to join the school orchestra. Music became my life passion and I later obtained a degree in Music Education from Oklahoma State University. For the duration of my undergraduate studies, I taught private students and worked as a chamber music coach for the university's pre-college music program.
Although my emphasis was on teaching, I also committed a significant amount of time to performance. In 2013, I attended Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina where I had the opportunity to play a lot of orchestral music as well as some chamber music. Additionally, I attended Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in 2014 and studied both chamber music (string quartets) as well as improved my solo playing.
After graduating from Oklahoma State University, I relocated to Colorado to pursue a degree in Art & Cultural Administration. Learning more about the arts industry and how to market and promote myself as a teacher and artist has been an asset. Throughout my graduate studies, I have continued to be an active musician and have performed in the graduate quartet at Colorado State as well as with the university orchestra. In addition to being a musician and teacher, I have spent time working as an intern for two non-profit arts organizations in Fort Collins: Off the Hook Arts and the Museum of Art.
My true passion is in private teaching. Each lesson is an opportunity to share my passion for music with the student and (hopefully!) instill good practice habits that will sustain each student for years to come.
I have always had a passion for music and I enjoy helping others. Teaching music seemed to be a natural fit for me. I started teaching privately in 2012 and have had students ever since!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, teaching certificates for Colorado and Oklahoma, and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Art & Cultural Administration.

I enjoy working with middle school students through adults as well as students with special needs.
Look for a teacher who inspires you and makes music a positive experience. Although learning an instrument is not easy, it should still be fun!

It is hard to put into a short statement just how excellent a cello teacher Victoria Ferguson is--I feel so grateful to have found her! She is highly competent and patient in making sure you master the techniques necessary to play well. Her love for music is contagious, and she makes it fun so that you are motivated and offers encouragement often. I have learned other instruments with other teachers before, and I think Victoria is one of the most impressive teachers I have ever met. I highly, highly recommend her!
