About Mason
I'm good at making difficult musical concepts seem interesting, accessible, and cool.
I particularly enjoy bringing out-of-the-box ideas into my lessons and watching my students adopt them into their craft.
I've been playing cello for ~20 years, composing classical music for ~10 years, and producing music of multiple styles for around 5 or 6 years. I graduated high school from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts' high school composition program, and am currently studying at Berklee College of Music.

With new students, it's important for me to be aware of what they already know, as well as what their goals are for their musical pursuits. My process revolves around a) using this information to give the student direction and b) introducing new concepts and ideas to expand the student's overall perspective on music and what they wish to do with it going forward.
