About Alison
I am a recent graduate from LIU Post with a degree in Music Education, majoring in Cello studies. I have been playing Cello for 14 years and I am very excited to teach my own students. I am pending on my certification to teach in the public schools, and I have performed in many ensembles and Pit orchestras over the years. As an educator, I am very passionate about helping the musician create a beautiful sound, while also learning the technical aspects of the instrument. I can help with college auditions, preparing for NYSSMA, and helping a student begin on the instrument.
I student taught at E.M Baker elementary school in Great neck, NY, and at Great Neck South High school in the Spring of 2019. This allowed me to work in the field with students from an elementary level, to a high school level on string instruments, so I have experience in teaching students.

When working with a new student, I like to begin by seeing their skills on the instrument by giving them pieces to sight read, and ask if they know any scales. I will base my lessons off of the ability of the student and have them grow from there.
