About John
Studying Chinese? As a native English speaker who mastered Mandarin, I know your struggle! But more importantly, I know how to overcome the many challenges and speak, read, and write fluently. I studied Mandarin Chinese at Georgetown University and National Taiwan Normal University, and lived in various regions of China for ten years. And now I'm ready to help you master the language, too.
I first taught English to Chinese student in Beijing. Later, I began tutoring Chinese to students in the U.S.
I studied intensive Mandarin Chinese at Georgetown University and National Taiwan Normal University, testing at ALTA Level 10 - Advanced Proficieny. I then lived in various locations across China for ten years, where I spoke Chinese as my primary language.

If you are at the beginner to intermediate level, it is best to learn from a non-native Chinese speaker who was able to master the language. They understand exactly what you are going through because they've been there before.
Tutoring my colleague's adopted sister who was born in China, but left for America before she had a chance to learn her native language. The joy that speaking Chinese brought to her was incredible. I'm grateful to have shared that experience with her.
