My favorite part of each class is watching the excitement build on a student's face as they realize they can, in fact, crochet.
I am a self-taught crochet artist who fell in love with the craft about seven years ago. I've loved crafting ever since I was a child, so it only made sense that I would one day become interested in making my own clothes. I always loved it when family members would gift me something crocheted or knitted. Those gifts were always the most special to me, so I wanted to give that gift to others as well.
I started my fiber arts journey on a particularly long evening where I was feeling frustrated over my inability to immediately master arm knitting despite having no prior experience with it. I thought it looked so easy on the computer screen, so why couldn't I do it?
I went to bed that night feeling defeated and shared my experience with my co-worker the following morning. To my delight, they offered to teach me to crochet. By the end of that session, I was more than half way done with my first hat. It turned out that I wasn't incapable of making something, I just needed a better teacher!

Crochet 101: Covers the absolute basics of crochet including several stitches, learn pattern terminology & best beginnner techniques
Crochet 102: Crocheting in the round (hats, bags, mittens, etc.), specialty stitches, learn to read crochet chart
Crochet 103: Crochet a garment such as a cardigan, learn best sewing/finishing techniques
Crochet 104: Crochet Amigurumi (stuffed animal), learn best methods for symmetry when stuffing and sewing

I like to start by asking what they already know about crochet. I may ask if they have anyone in their family who knits or crochets and what they think of the process they've witnessed thus far. I ask why they are interested in crocheting and what would be the most exciting thing they could make once they've mastered the craft. Knowing what interests them most helps me know what to focus on during our time together to ensure a great experience for both of us.

The instructor is extremely versed in their craft and can relay their knowledge at the level each student learns at best. I usually struggle with hand to eye coordination crafts, but Julie described the method to me in a way that I could actually use.
Julie is very patient and shows each step in detail. She makes learning to crochet so easy! I definitely recommend her if you are looking for someone to teach you to crochet.
