About Paula

I have a Master’s degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, and a background in ballet, modern and (recently) Tango dance. My degree enables me to properly analyze body mechanics and guide my students in a way that makes them fully understand how to get the most out of every movement. My dance background gives me a continual palette of creative movement techniques.

I have been a movement and fitness instructor for over 30 years, and have trained thousands of people with a unique and effective method that I developed. The method combines yoga, pilates, and barre for a full body workout. It is intense, but low impact to prevent injury. Movements centered around our fundamental muscles (core, hips, and back) are fluidly stitched together. Stretches are subtly intwined throughout the workout to promote flexibility and increased mobility

All you need is a mat, a block, and 3-8 lb weights. We use our own bodies to create resistance. Movements are slow and controlled. I will explain in detail exactly how to place yourself, and what/if any modifications need need to be implemented. Through zoom, I will be able to watch you and make accurate corrections accordingly.

Movement and fitness have always been my salvation. Through dance, I was able to express myself creatively, but was taught how to control my body, and that there was a purpose behind each and every movement.  Through fitness, it was the immediate gratification of challenging my cardio vascular system and reaching deep into my muscular/skeletal systems that left me with a sense of euphoria, control, and serenity.   It was quite obvious to me that both of these movement modalities must be integrated in order to transform the body.  I knew intuitively that this was my calling—to teach others to move with this same precision, so they too can find their voice.

Fast forward many years (and a Master’s degree in Physiology and Kinesiology) later, I find myself as a high profile trainer in NYC.  Long before fusion classes were the rage, and ballet barre classes in vogue (25 years ago), I was combining different methodologies, and using the back of chairs as ballet barres.   Now, I am offering online classes with a renewed passion and energy.  I am ready, and i hope you are.

I like to schedule a free online consultation to meet and greet, go over fitness goals, body mechanics, and gather information aout any physical limitations.  This process  helps me create a customized program specifically designed to fit the needs of my new clients.I have been a movement and fitness instructor for over 30 years, and have trained thousands of people with a unique and effective method that I developed. I have worked with every student imaginable-all ages, all fitness levels, celebrities, teachers, plumbers-you name it.  My workout is adaaptable, and so am I.  My favorite client is not the seasoned one-they are easy.  My favorite is the one who hasnt had prior successs in fitness. The ones who I can guide in ways they never  thought possible.  There  is nothing nore satisying than the sparkle in the eys of a person who has had an epiohany because they finally understand what a movement should feel like.

I have been training for so many years, and have seen every possible mistake a person can make when exercsing.  The common mistake a new trainer makes is the assumption that the their students can move with the same ease and control as they can.  This is an incorrect, and potentially dangerous assumption.  A trainer should be hired not only for their creative approach to fitness, but their ability to guide students into position every step of the way.  This means having a clear and concise description of how the movement is performed and a precise explanation of which muscles are employed, and the overall physiological response.  The student should ask the trainer to teach them a few movements to get a feel for their ability, and then ask them to show two modifcations of each.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are my fitness goals, and what i need to do to get there?   What should I do on days I don't see my trainer?  How to I care for an injury?   What kind of foods should I eat/avoid to give me the optimal fuel for my workouts?

I want to make personal/and small goup sessions accessible to everyone, so I am offering a sliding scale, and options to do small groups where attention to each student is not compromised.  Being in quarantine for the last month has renewed my passion for teaching.  It took a pandemic like this, for me to realize this is my true calling-helping people understand how to move their bodies to get strong and healthy. I believe everyone has the right to achieve their fitness goals so please message me whatever you can pay. We can work it out either privately or grouping together those who have the same goals.
