About Cristina
Music should be about finding the intersection of fun and artistry. I make each learning plan suited to each student's needs. I like to include mini lessons of history, music theory, and personal goal making to make musicians instead of just bass players.
I enjoy working with all the fun personalities who are attracted to playing the bass. The bass is in every type of music, and its fun to see how each student implements the fundamentals I teach them to achieve their goals, whether thats Dittersdorf concerto or reading a lead sheet in jazz combo.
I started teaching in highschool when I would lead sectionals and blind auditions for the younger youth orchestra programs. I found that I love working with younger folks and understanding their perspective of music.
I have a Bachelors in Classical Performance from the University of Denver. I worked with Susan Cahill of the Colorado Symphony, where we focused on bass pedagogy and history of bass. I played with numerous pits for opera and musical shows. I have being playing for 11 years. I attended the Denver School of Arts as a Orchestra Major for my highschool years. During my time there I was participated in multiple highly competitve youth orchestras. I'm highly versed in the rigors of competitive youth competitions and orchestras.

Before our first lesson, I like to ask students what their goals are. Specific goals such as what they would like to have done in 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, and 3 years. From there I put together a learning plan to match their needs. This is includes what type of lessons they need and how often they should practice to meet those needs.
I have worked with as young as 6 years old to adults becoming reaquainted with music after years of no music lessons. They each have their different obstacles, but each their own strengths as well.
Find a teacher you connect with and that will push you to be your best, while still inspiring when you become frustrated. Learning to play an instrument is a life long endeavor, and endless fun.
