About Ben
I teach any skill level and any age from a classically trained perspective. Currently a student of the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University where I study with Joel Reist and Glen Wanner; principal and assistant principal bassists of the Nashville Symphony.
I've had experience working with orchestras for 6 years now and have taught studio and private lessons since 2014. In addition to this I work with students of all ages at the Baldwin Wallace Summer String and Piano Camp in Berea, Ohio where I have worked with hundreds of kids from all over Ohio and the Midwest.
As both an education major and a music major, I have a profound respect for the skills necessary to both teach and play music. There is nothing more satisfying to me than seeing someone progress due to hard work and effective instruction. Teaching is my passion, feel free to contact me at any time over phone or email!
I first got started teaching as an Orchestra assistant for string summer camps like the ones at Baldwin Wallace University in the summer. I grew up going to these camps and I missed them so much that I started being a counselor there. Quickly I realized that music education was not just a hobby; it was my passion and future career. I've taught lessons to high schoolers and middle schoolers since in ranging abilities and now study pedagogy at a Collegiate level.
I currently study Bass Performance with the principal and assistant principal of the Nashville Symphony. In addition to this, I am an education major under Dr. Tucker Biddlecombe, director of the Nashville Symphony Chorus and department head of music education and pedagogy at Vanderbilt University

The first and most important step to take with a new student is to assess their current level of playing ability. What are you working on right now? Are you in an orchestra? Have you taken private lessons before? Once I get to know where a student lies in ability level I can begin working on a plan that week to week will help them steadily improve on musicianship and technique appropriate to their level.
In the past I've worked with high schoolers, middle schoolers, and occasionally beginning bass players, most of which come from northeast Ohio.
Make sure it's a good fit! Look around, try out teachers. Ensure that you are making the most of your private lessons.

Details
In the past I have taught private lessons for 20-30$ a week. However, pricing is totally flexible! Depending on how long lessons should be, where they are, and how often you want them I am totally willing to work around your schedule.
Im addition to this I love to give a trial lesson to any student who is on the fence, free of charge. It's important to know that a private teacher will be a good fit, and this often helps with this important decision.
