About Colleen
I am a professional artist and have been teaching children, teens and adults of all ages for 20 years at my Avon studio.
I enjoy working with students who are interested in learning to draw and paint in a realistic manner. As a professional oil painter, much of my work involves still life and landscapes. I love sharing my knowledge and experience with my students and watching them accomplish drawings and paintings they thought they could never do!

About the lesson

All students begin with drawing exercises that teach them to simplify subjects through the use of line lengths and accurate angles. They are taught how to see values (relative lights and darks) and to draw these values to make things appear 3 dimensional. Graphite and charcoal are used for the drawing exercises. When students are ready, they move on to learning the fundamentals of oil painting .
