About James
I not only teach students drawing and expressive painting techniques, but life skills. Through my lessons, I help students with self-control, creativity, and communication. I’ve taught courses in emotional management where students use art to represent and share their emotions. I have been working for 5 years in Asheville, North Carolina. I prefer to talk with new students by email or by phone. I like to ask about the student’s goals and how we can best achieve those goals.
Choose a teacher that you feel comfortable with, who will challenge you, but also make learning and making art fun.
I am most happy about an art workshop I held at the New City Christan School with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask themselves are they committed to what they are pursuing or are they only interested in what they are doing? Neither approach is wrong, but it is good to know. A commited student will show up every day ready to learn and grow. An interested student is curious and may or may not continue pursuing the interest.
