About April

I never went to school for drawing. I just have a knack for it(runs in my family) but I am willing to give children tips on how to draw anything because with this virus going on I believe art is calming and creative way to not be bored at home.

Also I work with children from 18 months to three years old and I noticed if I do art once a day with them they love it and feel so special by just coloring a circle.

Well I work at a preschool and I've been their for two and a half years. I honestly needed a job and I thought I had to have a degree to work their but since I'm not working with four year olds I can work their(most people work were I'm at to gain experience in child care then move up to being a teacher at school. I'm not confident to be a teacher at elementary school but I wouldn't mind just tutoring children on drawing techniques)

Honestly none. I do drawing at home and hang up on the walls. I do know the basics for example lay out a stick figure of how you want to draw or shapes and go from their. I can literally look at a image of Betty boop and just hand draw I can see the shapes that make up a figure. Realistic drawing is something that I can do but it depends, I can make a bear look real but I can't create a human profile realistically. I'm better at cartoon work. My main hope is I can help young kids start to learn how to even attempt drawing or coloring.

Only training I have(if you call it training) is I'm used to doing artwork with children 18 months to three years in a classroom setting (that's my main job I'm a closer at Kiddie Academy).

Well I was going to work online because of the virus going around. So for example I got a zoom account to do small sessions with plus I can attach videos in your email if more help is needed. My three year old might budge in and say hi but I am a mom of two boys  Wich I can't always help. :)

Just 18 months old till 3 years old. Sometimes four year olds but that's generally to cover a lunch or break. Also just yesterday I got to play in the infant room till her ratio was down:)

Be upfront and tell them what you want to learn to draw. Because not everyone can draw the same. I'm better at cartoons and realistic animals but I can't make a portrait of some one and I'm not the best scenic drawer(except flower collages oh those are fun).

I just had another child who is three months old. And my three year old loves to play with him but we all were getting bored. So I had Elliot color as much as he wanted while my baby boy watched and just by telling him that he is a great teacher and a wonderful big brother he colord multiple coloring books for a half hour before he got bored. Art can really affect ones emotional state. :)

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think they should just be open about what their having problems with. Even if it's something the teacher can't do they can always find a link or video and add that to their teachings so student and teacher can learn or relearn.
