Kara taught my Girl Scout Brownie troop 2 art lessons for them to earn their painting badge. The girls were all completely engaged- maybe the only meetings this year where that was the case. They learned how to paint portraits. Kara balanced teaching them technique with letting their creativity shine through. Best Brownie meetings of the year. I feel so lucky to have someone with her skills available to our kids in Greensboro.

Kara was amazing with my daughter. She wanted to transform her room into a “secret garden”- basically paint a mural on the walls. I was obviously anxious, so I had the good sense to hire Kara to “help” her. Kara listened to all of my 8 year olds ideas and taught her how to draw every flower in the massive mural. Anything that seemed a little unusual, she made sure to run by me first to make sure it was ok. She bought all the paints and made it a painless experience. Her patience was incredible, as this was very detailed work and took many sessions, My daughter never got bored with it because Kara has an amazing teaching style. My daughter getting to learn one on one from Kara is a priceless experience that will be hard to top. It will no doubt be a defining part of her childhood. Her room is gorgeous- Kara made sure to perfect the (inevitable) smudges and the result is a masterpiece. Sam is so proud that she painted the room herself. Everyday when I go in it, I am stunned again by its beauty and in awe that my daughter can now paint like that. Her confidence as an artist soared after this experience. Kara is a gifted teacher and an amazing person. She taught my daughter middle school art for 2 years. She is the reason my daughter fell in love w art and is currently graduating from college soon with a degree in Art with teaching licensure. She has a lovely spirit as well as great talent and teaching ability.
