About Andrea
Personal one on one drawing and painting lessons to help any level artist, from weekend doodlers to avid drawers to studio visits for emerging artists. With over 20 years of art making under my belt and a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I have a deep understanding of drawing and painting fundamentals. After being asked 3 years ago to teach a friend how to paint, I realized how useful, therapeutic and fulfilling it was for others. A path I am forever greatful for.
Watching someone’s entire mindset change after learning a new skill is by far the greatest gift. Time and time again, I’ve heard how a student doesn’t think they can do something or don’t like the way a piece of art is unfolding. Nine times out of ten, the hurdle isn’t as hard as we think. A different perspective, a boost of confidence, and a regained sense of trust in ourselves is closer than we think.
My services were requested. I had been making art for over 30 years & sharing my process for the last 10 when I was approached.. needless to say, I went along with it & it turned out to be such a rewarding exchange!
I have a Fine Art Degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Our first scheduled session would include an extra 15 minutes to discuss what the student would like to focus on. Whether it be a technique, or color, drawing, or a specific skill in painting- I have a wealth of experience in a number of mediums & surface types to learn about. I enjoy letting the student dictate what they want to work on & learn more about.
Retired academics, at-home hobbiest, and students/emerging artists looking for more tangible feedback on their work.
