About Sylvia
Sunburst Art Studio offers drawing and painting workshops, using the majestic Mojave desert as an inspiration. The cool days, clean air and starry nights of the season will invigorate you as the unique views of Joshua Tree National Park challenge you and give your work new direction. This is not a beginner's level—it is assumed that you know how to work in these media and want to practice your art in an unique setting, with others of a similar level of experience and under the guidance of a teacher who can develop your potential.
I truly enjoy seeing a student discover unknown abilities and develop them to new depths. After teaching art classes (drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, sculpture) in a private school in LA for 16 years, I have found that every person who approaches their medium with an open mind can find new areas in which to grow, no matter how long they have been practicing their craft.
BA in art and MA in education from UCLA.

Perfect! She is very smart about how to go about painting. Although I could only have one lesson dye to virus, she was right when she pointed out that I needed to do more drawing before learning to paint. Baby steps are the way to go even though my hopes were to start with techniques, etc. Right away, it's not the best way to start. I'm hoping to go back when things clear up

An experienced, patient and results oriented teacher. Had lessons over a 9 month period and got from zero to my first completed canvas in good time. Reasonable rates and accommodating lesson schedule.
I have very bad vision, but have always wanted to learn to draw. Sylvia taught me simple techniques and was incredibly patient & supportive. She's very knowledgeable and a great instructor! I highly recommend her!
