About Ty
I have a passion to teach students of every level and age, no limits. If you want to advance your skills, or starting from scratch, I can get you there. How am I so sure?

You can read about my curriculum at UDKLM.com (The Ultimate Drum Kit Learning Method). This is the method and curriculum I use with all my students. I wrote it over a two year period, published in 2015, and refined over a four year period following that. I am currently working on an advanced curriculum.
I am the owner, main composer and founder of the Ty Steele Band, which released its debut album, Double Exposure, in December of 2016, producing and performing progressive metal-fusion. You can learn more about his project at (concealed information) or @tysteeleband on various social platforms.
I simply had a passion to pass on my skills. As a musician, I believe everyone should.
I began drumming in 1983. I served in the Marine Corps from 1989-1995. In 2011, upon
completing a Master of Divinity and M.A.R. program at Liberty Theological Seminary, I began my musical education at the Atlanta Institute of Music, and consistently received the Merit Scholarship for outstanding performance. I was trained by Tom Knight and Creig Harber, and personally instructed by Dave Weckl.
My main drumming influences are: Tom Knight, Benny Greb, Carter Beauford, Chris Coleman, Dave Weckl, Gary Novak, John Blackwell, Heracio Hernandez, Lee Pearson, David Garibaldi, Marco Minnemann, JoJo Mayer, Steve Gadd, Steve Smith, Vinnie Colaiuta, John Bonham, Neil Peart.

I believe you must learn to read. Otherwise, we cannot communicate musical ideas. Don't worry! It is not hard. I can get you there easily.
I saw Rush R40 in 2015 with my oldest son. This was a highlight of my life.
