Learn to hold your sticks like the pros. Get the speed, power, & control, to play the many styles you will learn!
From beginners to the pros, good stick grip and independence, makes it possible for you to play with "chops" that will impress the band, audiences, and studio engineers. It's called; the Moeller technique, using it will have you playing amazingly well. We will also break any bad habits that have snuck in.
Learn to Read Drum music .
For beginners, it's best to start correctly, with no bad habits, a good foundation in stick technique, reading varieties of musical compositions, and rudiments. For more advanced players, this technique is a proven way to step-up your performance.
I also studied in Los Angeles with well known drum instructor; Kay Carlson. She was known for instructing her students to know various styles and genres, making it easier to interpret what was written and tighten up your performances, regardless of musical style.
We will develop your personal percussion skills, by incorporating audio, visual, and tactile awareness, to play & read music. Also working on independence between each of your limbs, takes some specialized exercises that we will spend some time on. I also give instruction for hand drumming & music theory and technique for percussion keyboards; marimba, vibes,congas, djembe, bongos, and many others. Proper technique with the hands is critical for hand drumming and mallets as well!!
