About Dan
My service is dedicated somewhat less to sheer technical proficiency than it is to the service of students desires. Especially for beginners, it is essential to understand the fun of playing before getting too bogged down in excercises and music theory. All the best musicians play from their ears and their heart, and these will be the first things we will explore on our journey to find each student's unique and worderful voice on their instrument.
I have a great deal of experience (~10 years) playing in musical groups of diverse stylistic characteristics from power-pop, to jazz, to punk and metal and strive to connect young students' learning to the types of music that get them ticking. There are no guilty pleasures in music! Love what you love and we'll learn how to play it!
Musicmaking has given me a beautiful gift, the ability to express myself in a way that many people cannot. Music gives people the opportunity to learn intimately about themselves and about relating to others. I personally love to improvise with friends and strangers alike and to explore the beauty that people can create together. I aim to provide students with a tooltkit that allows them not only to express themselves but to communicate with others through the beauty of music.
