About Melody
**I am in Taiwan so I can only do online sessions.**
I have a degree in linguistics, so if you want to know exactly why some things are said the way they are, I can help answer that! I am an elementary ESL/EFL teacher in Taiwan, so I specialize in teaching children. I also have experience with students up to the graduate level. I've been working on getting my TEFL certificate and should have it by the end of September, which means I can personalize our sessions better and integrate fun and useful activities.

What I enjoy most is seeing my students or clients progress. It makes me incredibly happy when something I've taught is put to use. I especially enjoy when students return to let me know that a project or assignment they had went well and received a good grade.
My first teaching job was tutoring Introductory Latin to my peers in college. My first English teaching job was tutoring English as a second language to Mandarin-speaking elementary students, either in-person or online, depending on their location.
I have a Bachelor Degree in linguistics, which means I can answer most questions about grammar, pronunciation, or etymology (where a word comes from). I'm an ESL teacher in an elementary school in Taiwan, and tutored English writing to high school and university/graduate students.

Before we begin, I will ask you to tell me what you think your level is and what exactly you need help with. If you need help with the English language in general, our first meeting will also help me gauge your level. I will prepare a number of materials of varying difficulty that we will work through. If you need help with any particular projects such as essays, applications, etc., we can start working on them in our very first meeting.
I have mostly worked with elementary students learning English as a second language. I have also worked with high school, undergraduate, and graduate students at my university's writing center. My younger students needed help with all aspects of learning English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening). Older students have brought me application essays, personal statements, lab reports, etc.
There are lots of things to look at! Consider the pricing. Ask the teacher what their qualifications are. Make sure they can help you reach your goals with English. Good luck!
