About Nicole
I fell in love with the teaching profession because of the love I have for providing student safe spaces to grow! The long last impacts of effective teaching is what I strive for!
I am finishing my Bachelor's degree in Special Education (K-12) and Elementary Education (1-6). Through my coursework, I have had experiences tutoring 1:1 in mathematics and reading. These experiences were paired with coursework learning about the best practices for instruction in reading comphrension, fluency, phonics, elementary and middle math.
As a part of my education program, I also student taught a third grade class in New Haven Public Schools. During this experience, I provide whole class, small group, and individualized instruction in reading, phonics, writing, and math to thirteen English Language Learners. I also provided services to students with learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities.

Whenever I have the chance to work with a new student, I also make it a priority to get to know my new student and help them feel comfortable with me. It's important that I create a comfortable space where they feel safe to get answers wrong and grow!
Once I have a foundation to that relationship building with a new student, I take assessment of their current performance strength and needs by working through academic work with them and short assessments. This process is important so that I can develop an individualized learning program for the student!
I have worked with students who have been identified with ADD/ADHD, emotional behavioral needs, learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities. I have LOVED all of these experiences; the uniqueness of every student is very important and I love to highlight those individual strengths for each child.

Details
As a young educator, I have the education background and field experience to work with students to create individualized learning. For this reason, I request $18/hour for one student during a private lesson. For small groups, I request the base payment of $18/hour with an additional cost of $6 per student. (This would be a great choice for students with peers who have similar academic areas of growth!)
