About Jay
I am an experienced Literature teacher who has been teaching in the Atlanta Metro Area for 10 years. I have worked with all levels of students, from those who are gifted to those who are on the Special Education level. I have had success with helping my students improve their writing ang reading.
I am a gifted writer who specializes in helping students craft their own writing style as well as assisting them in becoming proficient in editing their own work and improving their grammar and spelling when writing.
I certified in middle school and high school Language Arts. I am also gifted certified and certified to teach AP Literature.
I am a certified language arts teacher for grades 8-12. I have a Master’s degree in Teaching Secondary English and I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Literature.

I always like to see where a student is before we do anything else. I would have the student give me a sample of whatever skill we are working on. I would assess the student’s current ability level. Next, I would have the student pull out an assignment related to the skill the student needs help on. I would scaffold first and show the student how to go about exercising the skill properly. Next, the student and I would partner together to work on the skill. Finally, I would release the student to work on the skill, uninterrupted, with minimal guidance. At the end of the session, we would come together to talk about what the student did well and areas of improvement.
