About Ivy
I have an MA from Columbia University in Global Thought, with a specialism in Economic and Intellectual History. I love children, and am a keen and confident tutor. I aim to help students develop the skills to work independently and happily. I think this involves both rigorous attention to essay writing and grammar, and finding exciting and creative content - both in history and english. I can tutor in history and english at any level, and other subjects (including math) at elementary level. I will help your child enjoy school and deepen their knowledge beyond the classroom.
I have a Masters in Global Thought from Columbia University. I also have a BA in history from the University of Manchester, in the UK. I was awarded the Humanities Dean's Award for Achievement for graduating in the 0.5% of my year, and the History prize for my thesis, which was the highest scoring dissertation in my graduating year.
I have tutored in english and history, and have long worked with kids. I love children and am confident in my ability to excite and engage children in academia.

I like to have a zoom call with parents to establish what you want out of the tutoring (specific exam prep, additional help with school subjects, work going beyond school curriculum, essay writing support etc.) I also think a trial session is useful to ensure the student wants to work with me, and I am confident that I can teach the material.
