About Olivia
I have had the pleasure of tutoring for three years now. I graduated high school from NEST+m in New York and am currently a student at McGill University. I'm happy to help with the college application process as well as any elementary to high school curriculum. I specialize in writing as my majors in college are Political Science and Sociology with a minor in Geography (Urban Systems).
Besides getting to see my students understand material over the course of our sessions, there is also great gratification in developing how I accommodate each student with how they best learn.
I had an apprenticeship as a "Literacy Leader" at the New York Public Library which eventually turned into a paid position there. I created lesson plans and taught grammar, reading, and writing to students in the program who needed extra help.
In high school, I was President of the National Honor Society which involved creating, organizing, and implementing tutoring programs within my school.

Before starting the curriculum I like to get to know my student by talking about how they like to learn, whether that's them being ready with a list of questions, me setting up the learning structure and getting their feedback, etc. It's also important that I know how they like to get feedback. Some students prefer it's more direct and others prefer to be guided towards what they need to change.
I have worked with students as young as 5 and students as old as freshman in highschool.
It's important not only to find a tutor with the right experience and academic qualificaitons, but one that you can communicate with well and feel comfortable learning from.
