About Sarah
I am a recent graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's of Social Science. I majored in Political Science and Minored in English. During my undergraduate degree, I also worked as an Americorp education worker at a local nonprofit. Through my service, I accurately teach and tutor the students enrolled in our afterschool program via progress monitoring and one-on-one lessons. After working at the nonprofit, I began working as a building substitute teacher at a middle school. My responsibility was to ensure the students' safety and aid in helping each child reach their goals. While working as a substitute teacher, I would frequently work as an extended-time substitute, short notice substitute, and special education substitute. I specialize in English, Language Arts, Literature, Essay Writing, General Education Math, and History.

My typical process for working with a new student is never the same for each child. Each student has their own unique learning style, and it is my job as their tutor to teach towards their unique abilities.
I have worked with general education as well as special education students in grades K-8. This has allowed me to fine-tune the methods I use for teaching as each child is different from their fellow classmates!
If I were to give advice to a student looking for a teacher, I would tell them to make sure their teacher is addressing their educational needs in a way that they feel supported. When I was younger, I always hated when teachers would think they are explaining a concept to you and they thought you understood, but because there was no relationship with the teacher, I just agreed that I understood the concept. Make sure you can get along and learn from your tutor or teacher!
