About Alise
What sets me apart from other tutors is my dedication to the holistic growth of my students. I start off each session with an affirmation and encourage my students to revisit that affirmation on a daily basis. I work with the student to set goals and assess their progress on a periodic basis. I believe that affirmations and goal setting are essential for lifelong learning, not just subject-specific learning.
I am dedicated to helping students exceed their academic goals. I love seeing students progress in their work and watching their self-esteem grow. I enjoy helping students uncover their talents that may be hidden beneath their fears.
I volunteer in the Ethnic Studies Writing Lab at my University
I work as a Mentor in two programs at my University, both dedicated to academic and personal mentorship. I also tutor elementary - middle school students in Math

I have worked with elementary to college-level students. I work with students who are at various levels of their academic journey. I work with students who need only essay edits and ones with general improvement needs.
You should look for someone who will set goals with you and actively work to accomplish those goals. English is such a broad subject area, so you should look for someone who specializes in your sub-section (essay-writing, grammar, spelling, etc.).
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should try to identify their problem areas as best they can, then think of what their goal is (higher grades, a better understanding of subject matter, eloquent writing, expanding vocabulary, etc.).
