About Sharon
I worked for 20 years as an English and elementary teacher. 5 of those years I was a tutor for the Gear Up program of NYS working with individual students to increase their chances of going to college.
I enjoyed the individua tutoring the most since I got to learn about the students on a 1-1 basis.
I have been retired for about 10 years and would like to get back into tutoring.
I have a NYS teaching certificate for K, grades 1-12, and English 7-12
I enoy working with teens especially. They are so vivacious and usually honest to a fault. It is refreshing in this modern world of coverups and lies to see these kids searching for th truth.
I also enjoy inspiring students to excel. Reading books is a activity that I encourage.
I received my BA in education from State University College at Oneonta, NY. I also have my permanent certification with 36 grauate hours. I taught for 20 years ( 5 of those were tutoring). The Gear Up program had lots of individual time with students and field trips to different colleges.

When I meet a new student I try to create a bond between us. I try to find out as much as I cana about the student and his/her family situation. I also like to share as much about myself as is appropriate.
