About John
Hi! I'm John, and I bring over 10 years of ESL teaching experience plus 1 year of online mathematics tutoring with Grow Paper Tutors to help elementary through high school students succeed. I hold a Cambridge CELTA certification and a B.A. in Pure Mathematics from Marist College.
What I love about tutoring is seeing that moment when a concept finally clicks for a student. I get to know each student individually and adapt my teaching methods based on how they learn best - some need quick, focused help while others benefit from slower, more methodical approaches.
My mathematics degree gives me a deep understanding of math concepts from basic arithmetic through advanced high school topics. I can break down complex problems into simple, manageable steps that make sense. For ESL students, my extensive teaching experience with all age groups means I know how to make language learning engaging and relevant.
What makes me stand out is my patient, encouraging approach combined with my analytical thinking from my math background. I welcome questions and feedback, and I adjust my methods based on what works best for each student. My goal is not just to help you get the right answers, but to build genuine confidence so you can tackle new challenges independently.
