About Hannah
As a teacher, I have two primary focuses: the first being communicating clearly with students to avoid confusion and misunderstanding, and the second being providing a low-stress learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, try new things, and make mistakes. After all, what learning can we do without making some mistakes along the way? No one is perfect, and learning can be a difficult process, but with practice we can not only improve, but we can achieve excellence.
I am in the process of completing my masters of education with a concentration in teaching English to people who speak other languages. My undergraduate background is in English composition and literature. My favorite subjects to tutor are the English language (especially beginner students!) and middle and high school English (writing papers, grammar, and reading comprehension especially). I have taught in many different settings; adult English language classes (both formal and community settings), middle and high school English classes, and even preschool! Each of these settings introduced me to many wonderful students who have shaped my teaching style into one that prioritizes my students' comfort and growth.
In my free time I enjoy gardening, watercolor painting, Philly sports, poetry (reading and writing), crocheting for my family and friends, and bird watching.
