About Katherine
Since 2004, Katherine O’Brien, MA CCPS, founder of Celtic College Consultants and College for Catholics, has empowered teens for their futures with her holistic college consulting services. She works directly with teens, helping them discover possible careers then identifying the best majors, programs, and schools for their particular needs. Then she guides them through the personal development and application creation processes, including essay crafting and financial aid strategies and applications. In addition to being accepted by multiple universities, her clients have each been offered an average of $233,000 in scholarships. Katherine is the author of The Ultimate Guide to Top Quality College Planning and Every Catholic’s Guide to College: The Best Colleges & Universities for the Practicing Catholic.
Katherine works with students from all over the US. A veteran homeschooler, Katherine’s clients attend public, private, online, and home schools. Katherine holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University and an MA in Catholic Theology & Christian Ministry from Franciscan University of Steubenville. She is a certified college planning specialist, a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association and the National College Advocacy Group.

I initially meet with the student and his/her parents to explore where they are in the college prep process with regard to classes and tests taken, financial planning, career and major exploration, college selection, and more. Then I share a written proposal describing the service options I believe will best meet their needs. Once we agree upon a set of services, we begin our regular online meetings to work toward the student's goals.
