I was given the idea by a relative and decided to try it out as a way to make extra income.

I have taught finance at the college level and do have some brief experience tutoring a child at the elementary school level.

About the lesson

I would ask them (or their parents) where they stand and what they want to accomplish. I would also perhaps test their knowledge of the subject to get a more exact gauge of where they are by asking certain questions to test their knowledge. I would then proceed to develop a lesson plan from there.
