About Sarah

I am a personal tutor for students beginning in elementary ages through high school. I am currently an undergraduate Honors student at Westminster College, studying Neuroscience and pre-med. I began tutoring students in math when I was 14, and have since extended my services out to include other subjects as well, including english. I primarily focus on developing writing skills helping students enhance their essays.

About the lesson

I've found that the first one to two sessions with a student will provide the most general insight as to what their strengths and weaknesses are. I beleive it is my job to try and identify these as best as possible in order to tailer my instruction to them as effectively as possible. In the past, I often ask students to provide me with their current assignements as a starting point. We will work through the first two or three assignments, then if I feel it is appropriate, I might ask the student to do additional short activities during our sessions as well to develop specific skills, such as grammar or varying sentence structure. As time goes on, I try to let students become more independent with their writing, using me only as resource tool.
