About Ellen
I have bachelor's degrees in Spanish and Psychology from Oakland University. I also have a master's degree in School Psychology from Michigan State University and am currently finishing a second master's degree from Michigan State in Human Development and Family Studies.
During my last semester at Oakland University, I worked in the tutoring center. I primarily tutored Spanish and psychology statistics. I received approximately 25 hours of training hours during my time in that role. At Michigan State, I have been funded as a Teaching Assistant for both of my degrees, three years of which I spent as an instructor of record for a substance abuse course. I have also been a teaching assistant for Lifespan Development and Child Development courses.
As a high school student, I took AP U.S History, AP Government and Politics, and AP Psychology for which I received a score of 5. I also received a 4 on the AP Literature and Composition exam and a 3 on the AP Spanish Language exam.

I usually ask a student their goals for tutoring and what they are hoping to get from our sessions. I also ask about areas where they have been struggling. For tutoring specific courses, I like to get as much information about the course as possible, including a course syllabus and any materials the instructor provides.
