About Iain
My teaching approach: I'm an experienced local working musician. I teach a technique based approach in finger style for Blues, Rock, Jazz, Spanish Classical and Bottle neck Slide in both open and standard tunings. My influences are: Clapton, Winwood, Kossoff, Carlton, Ford, Cooder, Lowel George, Abert Collins, Albert King, Bream, De lucia, villa lobos, Rubira. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio or the student's home Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours: I'm available evenings and weekends as well as some week days on appointment in advance. Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Slide Guitar, Scales and Exercises, Guidance In Equipment Selection Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: I look at student posture and fit with instrument first and the assess the students level before moving on to create bespoke lessons to best achieve success for the level of the student. Emphasis is on progressing quickly. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: Lessons are one hour in length. This includes a quick warm up and review of previous lessons exercise. Lessons are collaborative and normally focus in on a students chosen piece as well as set pieces designed to improve technique in a natural, non cognitive approach. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Enthusiastic to learn and passionate about guitar across all ages
