About Sarah
I have a bachelors degree in Experimental Psychology and graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina. I have experience tutoring a variety of ages. In college I spent three semesters tutoring sections of PSYC 101. I teach content and how to be a self-regulated learner which will help them in every subject, not just psychology.
I not only have the experience necessary to be an excellent tutor, I have a passion for psychology and learning that helps make the process more enjoyable. I enjoy teaching. There is nothing better than seeing that lightbulb go off in a student's head when they finally understand a concept.
I became a supplemental instructor during college and fell in love with it. I ended up staying in the position for three semesters, only leaving because I graduated.
I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and have tutored students in college-level psychology in the past.

The first thing I always do is identify what they are struggling with content-wise and with general learning techniques. I talk with them about how they learn best so that I can tailor lessons. I start with basic, surface-level understanding before delving deeper. I am less concerned about getting through an entire lesson than I am about making sure the student fully understands the content and could teach it to someone else.
In Psychology, I have tutored college students. In general, I have also worked with elementary age kids. I am skilled at tailoring my teaching techniques and my lessons to the age and experience level of the student.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What content exactly are the struggling with is the biggest one. It's also important to think about how much they are struggling. There is a difference between understanding on a basic level and on a deeper level, the latter of which is what many professors require and will ultimately make exams easier. Think of it as a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being absolutely no clue and 5 being I could teach this to someone who has never heard of this content.
I also reccommend thinking through if they feel their learning and studying techniques are working. It's hard to learn content long-term if the technique you're using isn't sufficient.
