About Kaila
I am an elementary teacher by profession, currently taking a break from the classroom as I just moved across the country! I love teaching because I am invested in children learning how to read and finding a love for learning. I studied math and dance in college, so the arts and mathematics are my own academic passions, but I also am really invested in teaching literacy and helping students feel confident in their own success.
I have a Masters of teaching degree and my teaching license in the state of Colorado.
I enjoy when students feel like they have gotten better at a task or at a concept. I am excited when students are happy with their work and proud of what they have accomplished.
I have a Master's degree in teaching. From my master's program, in addition to classroom teaching and teaching literacy, I learned about the importance of culturally responsive teaching, social-emotional learning, and the implications of educational psychology and development.
I have a bachelor's degree in theater and dance. In college, I also took many math courses because when I started as a freshman I was on track to major in math and computer science. Of course, life paths change; I want every student to know that and keep as many academic doors open as possible so that they have options when they graduate.
