About Franco
I have taught for 30 years to many hundreds of students at the Italian state grammar schools.
Almost all my students afterwards attended university courses and almost all of them eventually graduated. Most of them found a job and are working currently.

I have taught Italian, History and Philosophy for many years in the Italian State schools.
In my classes I can come to the requests of both the student who wants to practise the language in a guided conversation, and the student who wants a more formal course where he/she can learn proper grammatical structures.
In both cases, depending on the availability of the student, I can assign homework, which I will correct during the following lesson.

Professor Manni tutored me between April and September 2013, while I was preparing for the Galileian School of Higher Education (Padova, Italy) admission test. His long-lasting educational experience in several disciplines perfectly fitted my situation, as I had to take a three-fold test in Philosophy, History and Italian Literature. Thanks to Professor Manni's supervision, I successfully passed my admission exam, with a first-place ranking.
According to my experience, Professor Manni is a passionate teacher. While working together, his first concern was always to show me the potential impact of what I was studying on the contemporary world or on everyday life . This goal, which was often reached through (funny) examples and comparisons, really helped me understanding difficult concepts or topics: he was always trying to illustrate things on a level of experience I could already be familiar with. With reference to Philosophy, he was able to depict vividly the origins and development of a specific idea, its features, its strengths and weaknesses; he often told me what was his opinion or approach towards a problem or a theory, but never forgot to consider and to explain carefully the opposite point of view.
This was always accompanied by subtle textual analysis, deep knowledge of details, facts and events, and by concentration on argumentative coherence. Prof. Manni also taught me the basics of a good methodological approach.
Of course, trying to associate new notions or intricate argumentation with something familiar to me, or operating in my everyday life, entailed trying to better understand who I was. I have noticed, and other students' experience confirmed it to me, that Professor Manni is excellent in developing good relations with his students. He has very good human skills: for instance, he is a good listener, he is kind and empathetic. Moreover, he sees his teaching activity as an opportunity to meet other people, to grow and improve together - to become more "human". That's what I experienced when he was my "humanities" tutor, and what made it possible to stay in touch and to further develop our relationship after the tutorship period.
Professor Manni is very serious and professional, he is able to explain in a simple and understandable way even the most difficult concepts and ideas. He is definitely the most cultivated person I know. Go ehaed and contact him !
As I was in high school, I attended three philosophy courses given by Franco Manni on the topics of freedom, reason, and the nature of philosophy. Each time, I was very happy with Franco’s teaching. He covered the topics adopting an historical outlook but took care to stress and discuss some systematic points as well. In my experience, he is a passionate, caring, entertaining, and competent teacher. I highly recommend him to you.
Franco Manni was my philosophy and history teacher in high school, in Italy. I will always remember his ability to connect knowledge and action, theory and practice. Studying philosophy with him as a teacher wasn't something abstract: it meant constantly reflecting on, and questioning, my behavior, my ideas, my values. And I really mean "constantly": not only during lessons, but also outside school.
That also applies to history: he was always pointing out what we could learn, today, about the lessons of the past.
Strong ethical inspiration, solid preparation, clear and charismatic speeches: these are rare qualities even individually taken, but they all belong to professor Franco Manni.Franco Manni is a great teacher of history and philosophy, the ideal if you are interested in deepening the evolution of political thought over the centuries: he has a solid knowledge of the most important works of liberal intellectuals such as Karl R. Popper, Hannah Arendt, Norberto Bobbio, Benedetto Croce, J.R.R. Tolkien (Franco is a Tom Shippey’s friend!), George Martin (he loves Game of Thrones!), Winston Churchill, Alexis de Toqueville, John Locke… Franco was my teacher during the high school and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about human history!
