About Martha
I have been tutoring for over seven years now, with experience in a variety of subjects for all age groups. Over my time as a tutor, I have had extensive experience tutoring 30+ students whose ages have ranged from year 4 to year 13. I specialise in Maths and English as this is where I have the most experience. In the past, I have also received positive feedback for my sessions covering Science and History content. The students I’ve worked with have all made significant progress in the subject I’ve worked with them on; moving into more advanced groups in lessons, gaining a lot more confidence and improved exam results in every age group. I have recently concluded my Bachelor's degree for which I studied English Literature at University College London. I always try to bring enthusiasm and patience to my tutoring sessions. I am willing to improvise and adapt to last minute adjustments or requests in sessions very quickly and effectively.

I'm an enthusiastic tutor, who has been tutoring consistently for the past 7 years. Many of my tutees have been with me for this whole period. My teaching method is completely centred around the student. I have found that sessions work best when the student is happy and at ease with the tutor; which comes from an open dialogue where they feel comfortable asking questions they may not have the confidence to do in a classroom. I always begin sessions by asking the student what they wish to focus on and work with them on that topic. Each student is different so a rigid structure does not necessarily afford the best results, I am always keen and able to adjust session plans if the student feels the time would be better spent helping them with homework, or reviewing topics in class they need more help with. Furthermore, I believe in keeping the parent or guardian fully involved and up to date with the progress of their child and what I plan to do to help them achieve their full potential in the subject. In many cases in the past and with current students, the open dialogue established extends to the parent/guardian in the form of weekly overviews of the session after it has taken place as well as termly phone calls to discuss general progress. This is again something which can be adjusted to suit the parent/guardian and their desired level of involvement.

She is always positive in approach which engages the students from the outset.Martha is a wonderful tutor. She is positive, reliable and flexible in her approach. I would highly recommend her.
Martha is an excellent tutor who I would definitely recommend. It is evident that she is well prepared for every lesson. She explains Maths problems in a very careful and methodical way and takes the lesson at the student's pace. She is extremely thorough in her teaching and always gives praise and encouragement which is important especially in a subject like Maths where confidence is key.
