About Karen
I am recently retired from the state of Michigan, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education and a Master’s of Education in Elementary Education. I was a certified elementary teacher in all subject areas. I taught first grade for 30 years, and had taught kindergarten for 6 months prior to that. Teaching beginning readers is a passion of mine. I am encouraging and patient with all students I work with. My goal as a tutor is, not only for students and parents to see results (big or small…growth is growth!), but for students to feel confident and excited about learning.
