About Sarah
The 2019-2020 school year was my 9th year of teaching. I have taught reading intervention k-5, kindergarten, 3rd grade and 5th grade. I have taught most of my career with struggling students. Each year the majority of my students make over 1 years worth of expected growth on district standardized tests. I am passionate about teaching and absolutly love watching the little light bulb go off when students start to make connections.
One of the most important things to helping students grow is building a positive relationship with them. Once that relationship is established, I use data to find where students are and fill in the gaps to bring them up to grade level. It is important to find where students are and begin instruction where they can feel successful. If students start out feeling successful, they will be more engaged in future instruction. I also try to bring in some of their interest into the lesson. When students are having fun learning, they can achieve more.

I have always loved teaching. When I was in highschool I did co-op at a local preschool. That was when I knew that teaching was for me. I attended CMU and recieved my bachelors in Elementary Education.
