About Samantha

I am a full time middle school math teacher with 6 years of classroom experience and am certified to teach K-12 history, K-Algebra in math, and all subjects in elementary grades. I can tutor students in elementary school math, middle school math, Algebra I and II, or Geometry. I especially love helping students push beyond what they learn in class and make connections between different kinds of math. Math is often taught as a set of disconnected skills for students to memorize and then immediately forget after taking a test. Students who truly understand mathematics, however, will never forget what they have learned because it will make sense logically. That’s when they start to learn to apply their understanding to new math skills as well.

I am also passionate about history and can offer structured lessons in social studies. In fact I even bring history into my math classroom every week.

As a working teacher, I have the skills to develop a personalized curriculum and assess student progress to help students outside their school studies or I can simply help students with homework and test prep—whatever will help the student meet their learning goals. I love helping kids have that lightbulb moment when they finally understand a skill they thought was impossible and I’m very passionate about helping my students succeed. I often find myself thinking about what skills individual students need to work on next as I’m falling asleep or taking walks in my free time. My students’ success after leaving my class is tremendously important to me. I even tutor my school students outside school hours if they want extra practice.

If your child is motivated to learn, I can guarantee their success if I tutor them. Motivation and determination are the only two skills a student needs to be successful in mathematics. I can promise I will be motivated in helping them and I only ask that my students are also motivated to improve in their studies.
