Initially, I graduated from Carlow University in 2002 with dual degrees in the education of children. Many of the educational and psychological principles apply to adult learners as well.
I am a certified RN, currently enrolled in a BSN program from which I will graduate in August 2019. I achieved excellent grades throughout my nursing education and demonstrate strong leadership skills. I have a background in education prior to entering the nursing field.
I have been employed in both an acute-care setting (hospital) and an outpatient clinic.

Initially, I take time to discuss short-term and long-term goals with the students. We establish a plan together and work towards goal completion. Adaptations are made when necessary.
I try to accomodate the individual's learning style and preferences.
I have tutored college students in education and psychology and have worked in collaborative groupings with other nursing students. I often explained difficult or unclear concepts to others to aid them in their learning.
I have also been in the role of preceptor - a type of nursing opportunity in which I educate new nurses onto the acute care nursing floor.
In addition, I have used my teaching background and nursing knowledge to educate patients, families, and nursing students.
Tutors should work with you to address your individual needs and should understand the factors that influence adult learning. The nursing tutor should have a history of teaching other nursing students, graduate nurses, etc.
I recently was nominated to become the RN-BSN program student representative for the Carlow University Department of Nursing.

It is vital to express your needs to your tutor as well as your learning style. Reflect on your past learning and identify what worked for you prior to sharing with your tutor. Write your needs and wants down so that they can be discussed at the start of the first tutoring session.

Details
I charge $25 for one hour of tutoring, either in person or online. Every 5th lesson is FREE (for online/local students only). Local students are those that travel to me or that are within 15 miles of Coraopolis.
