About Usuf
I am a self taught photographer with amazing mentors who have shaped the way I photograph. Learning how to operate a 1964 B&w Minolta film camera at 16 years of age to more than half of my current life as a dslr user. My range and areas of work have matured as I grew older and made photography my center of expression. The same philosophy that evoked the hidden curiosity out of me at age 16 will be harnessed to be replicated in these lessons.
It’s never been a time where putting my efforts into photography have made me feel like I was doing any work. The obsession to capture a moment that is long lasting is the core of what I do. I enjoy being lost in the process to get the best results, to immerse myself in the frame I see through my eyes and trying to capture that with the camera. The camera becomes an extension of my physical self that communicates with the world around me as I perceive it. (concealed information)
Developing film in the dark room and learning how to work with light at a manual level has engraved the technical aspects of taking every picture. Dslr technology has made it more widely accessible and made the process a lot faster from clicking the button to actually seeing the picture you just took. Having transitioned in between these two mediums at a very critical moment in time where most of us were forced to conform to the dslr world - I have found the right way to make the best of both worlds.
