I'm Josh, and I've been tutoring for a few years now.
I know that tutoring is only useful if the teaching is well suited to the student - that's why the first thing we'll do is talk about how you learn best, and what your goals are.
You can expect me to be well prepared for each and every session, and I'll expect the same of you: the students I tutored in the past have enjoyed fantastic success, particularly when they've worked hard.
I've helped with a variety of subjects, including Maths, English, Economics and History. I've also helped others through the university application process - picking courses and universities, writing personal statements and negotiating the Oxbridge labyrinth.
As a student, I have had highs and lows - I failed exams, but still won a place to read PPE at Oxford (although I ended up at York). My own experience convinces me that everyone has enormous potential, and I try as hard as I can to help my tutees reach it.
Progress report early 2020:
A number of students have been invited to interview following tutoring for the TSA. One student, resitting their Economics A-Level, has recently received an A grade in the AS examinations. Their previous grade was a D.

I'll come prepared to every session. We'll have a clear idea of the material we're going to cover, and there'll be additional resources (such as past exam questions) to work through alongside the teaching.
I won't use the same structure with each student - we'll work out what best supports you, and build it from the ground up. For some tutees that will mean covering a lot of new material each time, for others, it will mean working through questions together and taking plenty of time for feedback.
