About Jonathan
I'm a Harvard-Bound Stuyvesant graduate with an SAT score of 1580 (one writing question wrong; one math question wrong; every reading comprehension question correct) and an SHSAT score of 677 who tutored my younger brothers, both of whom got into their first-choice Specialized High Schools, on the SHSAT; I know my way around these tests—and just as importantly, I know my way around the concepts that underlie them.
In the classroom, there are few things I love more than figuring out an elusive concept. My goal when tutoring is to bring the same experience to my tutees. Yes, I want to help my tutees achieve higher scores so they can have more competitive college admissions profiles, but what makes the work personally rewarding for me is witnessing conceptual breakthroughs.
When it came time for my brothers to take the SHSAT, I tutored them. One is headed to Stuyvesant next year; the other is headed to the High School of American Studies at Lehman College. Both of them are going to their first-choice school. Now, I'm bringing that outside of my household.
