About Janice
As an award-winning pro singer and entertainer who has performed all over the U.S. and Europe, had a record production deal, sung on indie feature film sound tracks and commercial jingles, and played countless clubs and hotels in the Los Angeles area, I’ve found that customization of lessons, improvisation and having fun are keys to progress and success with my beginner and intermediate students, most of whom are mature adults who have always wanted to learn to sing with skill and confidence.
It gives me great joy to see my students empowered and able to hit notes, sustain pitches and do things with their voices they didn’t know they could. When they succeed, I succeed! I am a strong believer in allowing the student to sing the type of material he or she prefers. Vocal exercises can appear silly, but there is a method to the madness!

The first lesson is usually 40 minutes as opposed to 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes I interview the student about his/her musical goals and background. We then go through various vocal exercises, some of them silly, but very revealing, to see where the student is at vocally and what their strengths and weaknesses may be. Moving forward, I customize a program to help the student reach their vocal goals while making the whole process as enjoyable as possible!

“Janice thinks I can learn to sing and she almost has me convinced. I plug away each week because it’s just plain fun doing those silly exercises, singing and laughing (at myself mostly.) I’ve always wanted to be able to sing, and if Janice believes I can do it — I’ve decided to just go with it; she’s the expert and who am I to question her--I think she’s tapped into the inner performer in me!”
