About Jacqueline (jackie)
I am a private voice coach in Oxford, PA. I have been teaching voice for about 14 years. I am comfortable teaching many styles of vocal music, including musical theater, pop, folk, country, etc.
Several of my students are involved in local musical theater programs and I love helping them to prepare for auditions and performances.
I also teach some beginning music theory.
I teach all ages, from age 4 up to adults.

My first lesson with a new student consists of the following:
1. initial getting-to-know-you questions to help me understand why the student is interested in singing and what experience he/she has had
2. an explanation of expectations for practice and what a typical lesson will look like
3. vocal warm-up exercises, which I use to get a first listen to the student's vocal tone as well as to learn the range of the student
4. pitch-matching exercises, which I use to see how well the student can match the pitch of his/her voice to the note I play on the piano
5. listening to the student sing along with a favorite song that he/she feels comfortable singing; this gives me a chance to hear the student sing an entire song and see how well he/she stays on tempo and pitch
6. discussion of repertoire choice - we talk about the style or type of music the student would like to work on in lessons and choose one or two songs for him/her to begin working on until we meet again

Jackie is very kind and motivating to my child. Allie really enjoys going. Although they have only been working with Jackie for 4 weeks, Allie is already more confident in their singing. Also, Jackie was quick to respond to my initial request for lessons and we got Allie right into a set time slot each week. Overall, our experience has been great so far!
